OUR STORY

•  OUR STORY
The best pizza in the world comes from Naples, Italy
 – where pizza is as much a part of the culture as wine and sunshine. At Pizzeria Marzano, we love authentic Neapolitan pizza, and we’re committed to bringing the healthy tastes and traditions of Naples to Torrington. Our pizzas are handcrafted and fired with care by pizzaioli trained under the old-school pizza police of Naples themselves – the Verace Pizza Napoletana Association.
OUR PIZZAIOLI
PIZZA ARTISTS TRAINED BY MASTERS.
OUR PIZZAIOLI ARE KEEPERS OF THE WOOD-BURNING FLAME.

Master kneaders who shape our dough and give life to our authentic, artisan pizzas. They man our Forno a Legna (wood-fire oven) from early morning until after dark to bring you the most authentic and healthy pizzas in town.

Jonni Eucalitto and his uncle Chris Eucalitto were both trained by the Verace Pizza Napoletana Association (VPN), which maintains strict rules to ensure the authenticity of Neapolitan pizza.
OUR OVEN
THE NECESSITY OF EXTREME HEAT.
WOOD FIRES ARE TENDED DAILY IN OUR BELL-SHAPED, BRICK OVEN TO TEMPERATURES OF OVER 800°F.

This creates the legendary puffed-up, slightly charred, crisp and chewy outer crust and the delicious, melt-in-your-mouth, ultra-thin, soft center crust found only in Neapolitan pizza.

Hand-built in southern Italy, our brick wood-fire oven is the hearth of our home away from home. All tile and marble work was performed by local Torrington craftsmen.
OUR NAMESAKE
SAN MARZANO, ITALIA
WE NAMED OUR PIZZERIA AFTER OUR ANCESTORS' HOMETOWN RIGHT OUTSIDE OF NAPLES IN CAMPAINIA.

It is one of Italy’s most picturesque and fertile agricultural regions. In the shadow of Mt. Vesuvius, San Marzano is famous worldwide for its sumptuously sweet, deep red tomatoes – a hallmark of Neapolitan pizza.

San Marzano’s warm, sunny climate, rich volcanic soil and proximity to the Mediterranean Sea are perfect for growing its legendary tomatoes, healthy grains, and world-famous wine grapes.
